Jones Irwin Joseph Corrigan was born on December 30, 1878 in Chelsea, Massachusetts to Thomas and Mary Irwin Corrigan. He studied at Boston College from 1893 until 1897, when he entered the Society of Jesus. He received his bachelors and masters degrees from Woodstock College, Maryland in 1905 and 1906, and was ordained a priest in 1912.
